From the beginning, we’ve wanted Exotech to be different from other companies. We’ve wanted to produce products that have the highest level of quality in our industry. We’ve wanted to be user friendly to our suppliers, customers, and each other. We constantly seek improvement in quality and technology through teamwork and support. What Makes ExoTech Different From Other Companies

  1. DO THE RIGHT THING, ALWAYS. Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to doing the right thing in every action you take and in every decision you make, especially when no one’s looking. Always tell the truth, no matter the consequences. If you make a mistake, own up to it, apologize, and make it right.
  2. BE VIGILANT ABOUT SAFETY. Know and practice the safety procedures for your job. Watch out for the safety of your teammates as well, for we’re all part of the Exotech family. Never take shortcuts that compromise your safety or that of your teammates.
  3. ALWAYS REMEMBER WE ARE FAMILY. Our relationships go deeper than simply being teammates at work. We genuinely care for and about each other. Whether it’s a kind word during a tough stretch, a friendly smile each morning, or a helping hand in stressful times, show your compassion.
  4. HONOR COMMITMENTS. Do what you say you’re going to do, when you say you’re going to do it. This includes being on time for all phone calls, appointments, meetings, and promises. If a commitment can’t be fulfilled, notify others early and agree on a new deliverable to be honored.
  5. BE A PROFESSIONAL. The appearance of our company makes a statement about the quality of our work. Take responsibility to see that our company environment is clean, neat, and professional. Everything from our personal appearance, the products we create, and the way we communicate should reflect our high standards of quality and professionalism.
  6. GO THE EXTRA MILE. Be willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish the job…plus a little bit more. Whether it’s starting early, staying late, or doing something that’s not in your job description, it’s the extra mile that separates the ordinary from the extraordinary.
  7. BE RELENTLESS ABOUT IMPROVEMENT. Regularly reevaluate every aspect of your job to find ways to improve. Don’t be satisfied with the status quo. “Because we’ve always done it that way” is not a reason. Guard against complacency. Find ways to get things done better, faster, and more efficiently. Take intelligent risks in accordance with existing procedures.
  8. EMBRACE CHANGE AND GROWTH. What got us here is not the same as what will get us to the next level. Get outside your comfort zone, rather than stubbornly hanging on to old ways of doing things. Be excited by the possibilities that change and growth bring. Be flexible.
  9. BE USER FRIENDLY. Find ways to make working with you/us easier. Walk in your customer’s shoes by understanding their perspective. Provide simple and complete instructions. Streamline our processes. Simplify everything.
  10. SHOW MEANINGFUL APPRECIATION. Recognizing people doing things right is more effective than pointing out when they do things wrong. Regularly offer meaningful acknowledgment and appreciation – in all directions throughout our organization.
  11. TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR WORK. Demonstrate a passion for excellence and take pride in the quality of everything you touch and everything you do. Good is not good enough. Always ask yourself, “Is this my best work?”
  12. SPEAK STRAIGHT. Speak honestly in a way that helps to make progress. Say what you mean, and be willing to ask questions, share ideas, or raise issues that may cause conflict when it’s necessary for team success. Be courageous enough to say what needs to be said. Address issues directly with those who are involved or affected.
  13. LISTEN GENEROUSLY. Listening is more than simply “not speaking.” Give others your undivided attention. Be present and engaged. Minimize the distractions and let go of the need to agree or disagree. Suspend your judgment and be curious to know more, rather than jumping to conclusions. Be open to learning from others, no matter what role they have and regardless of their age or tenure with our company. Above all, listen to understand.
  14. PAY ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS. Missing just one detail can have an enormous impact on a job. Be a fanatic about accuracy and precision. The goal is to get things right, not simply to get them done. Double-check your work. Get the details right the first time.
  15. GET CLEAR ON EXPECTATIONS. Create clarity and avoid misunderstandings by discussing expectations upfront. Set expectations for others and ask when you’re not clear on what they expect of you.
  16. LOOK AHEAD AND ANTICIPATE. Solve problems before they happen by anticipating future issues, planning for contingencies, and addressing them in advance. Work with appropriate lead times. Preventing issues is always better than fixing them.
  17. THINK AND ACT LIKE AN OWNER. Make decisions by asking yourself, “What would I do if this were my company or my equipment? What would I do if this were my own money? Will this help the company to succeed?” Look for ways to contribute to profit and growth. We all benefit from the opportunities profitable growth creates.
  18. PRACTICE BLAMELESS PROBLEM-SOLVING. Demonstrate a relentless solution focus, rather than pointing fingers or dwelling on problems. Identify lessons learned and use those lessons to improve ourselves and our processes so we don’t make the same mistake twice. Get smarter with every mistake. Learn from every experience.
  19. BE CURIOUS. In the search for the best solutions, challenge and question what you don’t understand. Be sure to get the facts. Don’t accept anything at “face value” if it doesn’t make sense to you. Be curious, ask thoughtful questions, and listen intently to the answers. Use this information to make better decisions.
  20. GET THE FACTS. Make good decisions by relying on facts and data, rather than opinions. Don’t make assumptions. Use this information to make better decisions. If something is important, measure it, track your progress, and improve your performance.
  21. BE PROCESS-DRIVEN. Create systems and processes that are scalable and that support our ability to perform with consistency. Strong processes are the foundation of organizational effectiveness. Work within the organizational structure- in all directions across the company.
  22. “BRING IT” EVERY DAY. Have a passion for what we do and be fully engaged. Make the most of each day by approaching every task with energy, focus, purpose, and enthusiasm. Work with a sense of urgency to get things done. You have the power to choose your attitude. Choose to be positive and to “bring it” every day.
  23. LEAD BY EXAMPLE. The best way to influence others is through your own example. Walk the talk. Take responsibility, both formally and informally, to coach, guide, teach, and mentor others. Be the change you want to see.
  24. WORK SMART. Be organized and plan your work for maximum efficiency. Use the tools, equipment and resources available to you. Leverage the help of your teammates to accomplish your goals.
  25. TREASURE, PROTECT, AND PROMOTE OUR REPUTATION. We’re all responsible for, and benefit from, the Exotech image and reputation. Consider how your actions affect our collective reputation, and be a proud ambassador for the company. Be a proud and loyal member of the Exotech team.
  26. ASSUME POSITIVE INTENT. Work from the assumption that people are good, fair, and honest, and that the intent behind their actions is positive. Set aside your own judgments and preconceived notions. Give people the benefit of the doubt.
  27. THINK TEAM FIRST. It’s not about you. Park your ego at the door. Don’t let your personal agenda get in the way of doing what’s best for the team. Be willing to step into another role or help a co-worker when that’s what’s required for success while respecting your role in the organizational structure. Be willing to give and take constructive criticism to achieve team success.
  28. KEEP THINGS FUN. While our passion for excellence is real, remember that the world has bigger problems than the daily challenges that make up our work. Stuff happens. Keep perspective. Don’t take things personally or take yourself too seriously. Laugh every day.
